In November 2004, The Epoch Times newspaper published a series of editorials entitled, Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, described as "a comprehensive analysis of the CCP’s reign in China and the 80 million deaths it has caused, combining historical evidence with insight into the methods the CCP has used to rule." The book sparked a worldwide movement that has come to be known as "Quit the CCP."

Every day, many thousands of emails, faxes, and telephone calls come in to special "Quit the CCP" centers and websites bearing messages from courageous Chinese people who wish to take advantage of the opportunity to separate themselves from the CCP and its affiliated organizations such as the "Young Pioneers" and the "Youth League". As of March 31, 2014, 161 million declarations renouncing the CCP have been documented, and this number continues to grow by leaps and bounds, despite draconian measures taken by the CCP to suppress the distribution of the Nine Commentaries in China. Many people withdraw using their real names, while others use aliases in order to avoid reprisals from the CCP. In either case, each submission is a declaration of independence from this regime which has enslaved and brutalized its people for the past sixty years.

We would like to express our support and admiration for these principled individuals. They are true patriots, and can look forward to a bright future. We've said it before and we'll say it again: "The world will be a better place without the CCP."

Lyrics:

The year was nineteen forty nine, history turned a page
China's brand new flag was solid red
A specter spawned in Europe boldly stepped up on the stage
While some folks cheered the rest were filled with dread

The ancient ways were cast aside, class struggle was the rule
Deadly persecutions soon took place
In Mao's new China many groups and individuals
Were targeted and brought down in disgrace

Chorus:
There's a peaceful way to end this tyranny
Wave on wave of people have quit the CCP
For your conscience and your country take a stand
The day of reckoning is close at hand

The Great Leap Forward put the Chinese people to the test
Thirty million starved in just three years
The Cultural Revolution then stirred up a hornet's nest
The gods were watching China through their tears

In 1989 there was excitement in the air
Young people had a longing to be free
But soon the tanks and troops descended on Tiananmen Square
Crushing all hope for democracy

Chorus
There's a peaceful way to end this tyranny
Wave on wave of people have quit the CCP
For your conscience and your country take a stand
The day of reckoning is close at hand

Then came the final blasphemy against what's good and pure
The CCP attacked the Falun Gong
Though bleeding from a thousand wounds, they stood tall and endured
Now ten years later, they're still going strong

Evil never will prevail against righteous belief
Can darkness hold a candle to the light?
When you quit the CCP you'll breathe a great sigh of relief
And then for sure your future will be bright

Chorus
There's a peaceful way to end this tyranny
Wave on wave of people have quit the CCP
For your conscience and your country take a stand
The day of reckoning is close at hand
